  • Wylie Dufresne was born in 1970 in Providence, Rhode Island. After seven years of working with Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Wylie became the first chef at 71 Clinton Fresh Food, a 30-seat restaurant on Manhattan's Lower East Side. Dufresne opened his 67-seat restaurant, wd~50 in April of 2003 on Clinton Street in Manhattan. The restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2006, which it retained in 2007 and 2008. In 2008, Frank Bruni, restaurant critic for the New York Times, awarded wd~50 three stars.
